Domestic violence against women is a widespread issue affecting individuals from various socio-economic backgrounds. It involves physical, emotional, psychological, and economic harm, creating a cycle of fear and control. The emotional scars often linger, impacting mental health and overall well-being. Women subjected to such abuse may feel trapped, powerless, and isolated.

Leadership Initiative for Youth Empowerment (LIFE) was co-founded by Abiodun Rufus-Unegbu in 2012 to promote equity and development for young people in Nigeria, with a focus on empowering young girls and sexually vulnerable females based on feminist principles of equity and social justice.

Operating in Lagos, Nigeria, LIFE has a strong network of partnerships and a proven track record of engaging grassroots communities. The organization has influenced positive change, such as securing community commitments to combat Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and support Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).

LIFE maintains robust governance, administrative, and financial systems, consistently complying with donor and statutory requirements. Looking ahead, LIFE aims to advocate for victims of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) through strategic litigation, seeking justice and reparations for abused individuals while continuing efforts to drive systemic change.
